About us
The Papillon Residence offers a peaceful haven for weekend respite stays for individuals with physical and/or intellectual disabilities or those on the autism spectrum.
Located in fully renovated facilities in downtown Montreal, our dedicated team of caregivers and nursing staff warmly welcomes up to 14 users aged 3 and over, ensuring their safety and comfort in a family-like atmosphere. Respite stays are scheduled according to the age groups of the users.

The Papillon Residence provides a safe and welcoming respite environment where every user is treated with the same care and love as if they were a member of our own family. We prioritize their well-being, interests, and respect for their individual pace.
For families, we offer invaluable peace of mind, knowing that their child is in a safe, loving environment designed to provide the necessary care for their condition. Our stays allow parents to rest, recharge, and spend time on themselves, their relationships, and other family members. Respite care at Papillon Residence serves as a lifeline for families, helping them better navigate the challenges of daily life. We believe in the importance of taking care of those who care for others, and we are committed to providing this supportive, loving, and secure space for families and their loved ones.

Our caregiver-to-user ratio is determined based on individual needs after our team reviews each user’s file.
Meals
The following meals are included during the stay:
- Friday: Dinner
- Saturday: Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a snack
- Sunday: Breakfast, lunch, and a snack
Environment
Our Facilities
The Papillon Residence has been completely renovated to offer a welcoming and functional environment.
Rooms are equipped with adapted beds and amenities to ensure optimal comfort and provide quality care to users. The bathrooms are spacious, featuring adapted showers or baths and designed for maximum accessibility. Our common areas include a lounge, a playroom, and a kitchen/dining area. Every detail has been carefully considered to create a warm and familial atmosphere where users truly feel at home.

Schedule:
Papillon Respite – Montréal offer weekend respite stays, from Friday to Sunday. Stays are scheduled on specific dates based on the age of participants.
- Arrival time: Friday, between 4:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
- Departure: Sunday, no later than 4:30 p.m.
Rates:
The cost of a weekend respite stay varies depending on the participant’s level of autonomy. It includes accommodation, meals, snacks, personal care, and activities.
Financial assistance may be granted by Fondation Papillon based on family income.
Pre-registration:
Please complete the online form provided.
Our team will review your application and contact you to confirm availability. You will then be invited to proceed with the official registration.

Respite costs $750 per weekend. Financial assistance may be available based on family income.
Respite begins on Friday at 6:30 PM and ends on Sunday at 6:30 PM.
Yes, it’s possible. We adapt to all situations based on the needs of the users and their parents/caregivers.
While exact wait times are hard to predict, you can expect a wait of approximately 6 months. We strive to provide prompt service to users and parents.
Please bring the user’s medications and personal belongings, such as clothes, incontinence underwear, and toiletries. The Papillon Residence provides meals, snacks, bedding, soap, and shampoo
We accept payments via Interac e-Transfer, credit card, check, direct deposit, or cash. Payment plans in multiple installments can be arranged.
Yes. An RL-24 slip will be sent to you before the end of February for the previous year’s attendance at the Papillon Residence. The Social Insurance Number (SIN) and residential address of the person responsible for the user are required for issuing the RL-24 slip.
