About
Unleashing each
child's full potential
At the Papillon Occupational Therapy and Stimulation Clinic, our mission is to unlock the full potential of every child, facilitating their integration into society. Through our interdisciplinary approach, we identify individual goals and intervention strategies, focusing on physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional development.
Our Clinic team comprises qualified professionals who warmly welcome your child for occupational therapy or early stimulation sessions at our downtown Montreal facilities. Furthermore, the Clinic serves as a partner in the academic training of students from the universities of Montreal, McGill, and Concordia. This collaboration enables us to provide services rooted in research and the latest scientific advancements in targeted intervention fields.
Therapies
Occupational therapy
Occupational therapy is a health profession focused on developing and maintaining an individual’s full potential in carrying out daily activities. The goal of the treatments offered is to enhance the person’s autonomy while considering their age and environment.
At the Papillon Occupational Therapy and Stimulation Clinic, the occupational therapist assesses the child or adolescent and intervenes in the development of their motor skills, senses, and cognition.
Goals and Impacts
Through engaging games and activities, the occupational therapist helps the child or adolescent understand their challenges and overcome them by working on:
- Acquiring skills in various areas, including communication, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, socialization, and sensory processing.
- Improving and maintaining their independence in all activities of daily living, such as eating, dressing, and bathing.
- Acquiring the skills necessary for academic progress, such as manipulating small toy pieces, cutting, using a pencil, and eraser.
Method
Early stimulation
Early stimulation is an intervention method for children aged 8 months to 6 years who exhibit developmental delays in cognitive, motor, language, social, or emotional areas, enabling them to acquire new skills and develop their full potential.
Goals and Impacts
Early stimulation places the child’s needs at the heart of the intervention. In collaboration with a specialized educator, the clinical activities specialist establishes a personalized stimulation program tailored to each child’s context. The specialized educator then accompanies the child during stimulation activities, which proceed at the child’s pace, thereby promoting their development, all in collaboration with the parents.
